Coin and Paper Money Collecting/foreign coins

Question
Would you tell me about a cold coin with "republica de chile" on one side with a large vulture pictured, and "10 centesimos" on the other side. The date is 1963.

Answer
Hi Chelan,
This coin from Chile is actually made from an alloy of aluminum and bronze, which has a gold color. Because they are pretty new, the value is not very high. Your coin is worth $2-$3 in perfect condition. A used coin does not have a significant collector value. With coins like this they have to be a bit older to have decent values. Let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
