Question

arabic coins
I think the writing is Arabic, but I can't find them in the book. A couple have a rooster. I suspect they may be tokens or play money or other non-coin items. Can you give any info?
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Frank, the ones with a rooster may be copper keping coins from Malacca in Malaya. The date would be on the other side. I can't make out the details on the others.
If you have clear pictures (not over 1 megabyte each please) of each coin, front and back, you can email them to me at tbirde@psknet.com.
With more info I'll be glad to help further.

You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.

CommentSorry the pics weren't clear. These were found in batches of mixed world coins, not expensive ones, probably not very old. I appreciate the speed and knowledge and offer for more info with better photo.
