Coin and Paper Money Collecting/inherited coins

Question
Brad, I have quite a few coins I would like appraised, 2 of  which really interest me.  First is a coin that on the face only has the star of David and on the back I believe I can make out the date of 1285 and some smaller symbols, it is pretty worn (tarnished like silver).  Second is a "UN CENTAVO 1890" with a G on the back and front is "REPUBLICA MEXICANA"   with a eagle and snake.  Can you also suggest a place or event to have the others looked at?  Thank you for your time.
Matt, Denver CO.

Answer
Hi Matt, the first is a falus from Morocco. The Islamic date 1285 is equal to 1868-69 AD. The size of it determines the face value (denomination). With more info I'll be glad to help further.
The second is an 1890 Mexican 1 centavo from the Guadalajara mint. Collector value may be worth about $1 with heavy wear to around $7.50 with moderate wear to maybe $20 with light wear.
You might take it by a local coin shop for a first hand opinion: http://find.mapmuse.com/interest/coin_dealers . Many dealers are only familiar with U.S. coins though.
If not too many, you might list them by Country, Denomination and Date, I may be able to give you a range of value estimates.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
