Question
okay we had this coin that is a standing liberty coin we think it is a 1917 and it has 3 stars in the back of it but we want to no if it matters if it is a D or a S or a P and if it is werth some money and how do we fine out ???

Answer
You say that you "think" it is 1917 which leads me to believe that the date is heavily worn.  If that is the case, the coin has little value because of the low quality.
Badly worn standing quarters are only worth about $3-4
