Question
could you give me value on this coin?

Answer
Hi Dean, Collector value of a coin depends on denomination (face value), date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
This 50c coin contains .3617 of an ounce of silver (currently worth about $6.15).
There may be a D or S mintmark below the bush to the left of the eagle.
The coin's collector value may be worth about $7 with heavy wear to around $8 with moderate wear to maybe $9 with light wear.
You might take it by a local coin shop for a first hand opinion: http://find.mapmuse.com/interest/coin_dealers .
You might also try a library for a copy of the Guidebook of United States Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
