Question
I just read your response to the nickle coin with the clasped or shaking hands.  Am I understand that his coin has no significant value.  I too, have a coin, and I have never seen the hand shake on the back of any other nickle coins.  It also says Louisiana Purchase.

Answer
Barbara,

This is one of the four commemorative issues from 2004-2005 -- they replaced normal nickels with these issues for two years

There were :
2004 Peace (handshake)
2004 Keelboat
2005 Bison
2005 Ocean View

After that, in 2006 there was a side view of Jefferson on the obverse, then they returned to the normal design.

None of these have any significant value.

Information from the U.S. Mint's website can be found here :

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
