Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1831 'Farthing'

Question
QUESTION: I believe I have a 1831 Guilder from British Guiana. The head is facing right. It says Gulielmus IIII, DEI GRATIA, on the front around the rim. On the back around the rim it says: BRITANNIAR, REX, FID, DEF. The woman that appears to be sittings down on the back of the coin is sitting on a shield.

ANSWER: Hi Frank, no Guilders were made with that date. It is likely British.
Is it silver or bronze? What size is it?
If you have clear pictures (not over 1 megabyte each please) you can email them to me at tbirde@psknet.com.
With more info I'll be glad to help further.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.

QUESTION: I found out I have a 1831 Farthing. Copper. 22 mm. It is in fair to good shape. All lettering is readable and the date is readable also. I was wondering if I could get any estimates on 'other' 1831 farthings?

Answer
Hi Frank, There were 2.7 million of these minted that year and collector value may be worth about $1 with heavy wear to around $10 with moderate wear to maybe $65 with light wear.
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
I'll be glad to answer any further questions in the future.
