Question
Hi,

I have a 1994 Tiu Kronur Island Coin and I would like to know its worth in CAD. Its in excellent condition (not mint though).

Thanks,
Natasha

Answer
Hi Natasha,
This is a fairly new coin, a 10 kronur from Iceland. as such, they are still spendable today in Iceland. The kronur has been hit with heavy inflation over the past couple of years. At present, 10 kronur exchanges for about 8 cents CAD. A mint condition coin will have a collector value of around a dollar, but used coins are worth just their exchange value.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
