Question
I noticed your response to someones's question on a 1913 Drei Mark  Leopold iV , while I was searching for info on my wife's confirmation gift which is a 1911 Drei Mark Coin.  It's face inscripion surrounding the siloete of a bearded man is:  "LVITPOLD PRINZ-    REGENT V. BAYERN   1821*12 MAERZ*1911 (The A & E overlap).  "D" id stamped  below the facial image.
The coin's back has a bird with wings spread, with a ribboned crown above the head.  The letters around the bird are:
   DEUTSCHES REICH 1911   DREI MARK
Embossed on the edge is:   GOTT  MIT  UNS  with some vine like decorative markings between the words.
Any info you can provide regarding history, quantities & value would be greatly appreciated.  It has been handled but is in very good condition

Answer
Hi John, There were 640,000 of these 3 Mark coins minted in Munich (D) that one year to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Prince Regent. This coin should weigh 16.667 grams and would contain .4823 of an ounce of silver. Collector value may be worth about $8 with heavy wear to around $22 with moderate wear to maybe $35 with light wear.
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
