Question
Thank you for your answer Dmitry. Much appreciated. Should have asked this in with the coins. Can you suggest an excellent reference book or books on coins of all countries - birthday coming up - won't allow them to stint. Old & new coins please. Many thaniks. Helen

Answer
Hi again Helen,
The most widely used, thorough and reliable book on all world coins is the "Standard Catalog of World Coins" by Krause Publications. This is a very comprehensive book and is split into volumes by century, such as 1701 to 1800, 1801 to 1900, 1901 to 2000 and 2001 to present. The most current editions will run $50 to $65 each and the 2001 to present volume is a little cheaper because it's smaller.
You can find these books at any coin shop, as well as on web sites and even eBay.
Thanks again for the questions! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
