Question
I came across a 1772 patrona bavariae silver coin with my medal detector i wanted some info on it. Like how they got to Alabama and the worth of the coin.

Answer
Hi Timothy, it likely came over with Hungarian immigrants. What size is it?
With more info I'll be glad to help further.
If you have clear pictures (not over 1 megabyte each please) you can email them to me at tbirde@psknet.com.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
Cleaning coins that leaves them shiny or scratched, even if only by looking with a magnifying glass, will reduce a coin's value by at least half.
