QuestionI got these mexican coin pesos and wondering if they are worth anything! 1988-$500, 1984-$100, 1992-$100 If they are where can I exchange it?
AnswerHi Darci, these were minted in Mexico City (Mo) but they are no longer exchangeable. Collector value of a coin depends on date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
Mexico had a monetary reform in 1992 that converted 1000 Pesos into 1 New Peso (about .11 U.S.).
The copper-nickel 500 Pesos coin features Francisco Madero, president and revolutionary leader. There were 230 million minted in Mexico City (Mo) in 1988 of a design used 1986-92.
Collector value may be worth about .20 with heavy wear to around .45 with moderate wear to maybe .60 with light wear to maybe $2.50 if uncirculated.
The aluminum-bronze alloy Mexican 100 Pesos coin features Venustiano Carranza, revolutionary leader and president (1917-20), a design used 1984-92. The national symbol of an eagle sitting on a cactus eating a snake is on the other side.
There were 227.8 million of these minted in Mexico City (Mo) in 1984 and collector value may be worth about .25 with heavy wear to around $1 with moderate wear to maybe $2 with light wear.
The 1992 may be worth about .15, .30, .75, $1.75 in the same conditions as listed above.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
