Question

coin
I have a 1970 Canadian penny misprinted on nickle with a hole at the top and a free mason stamp at the bottom, just wondering theories on the free mason stamp and estimated value of the coin, not that i plan on selling, just curious. thank you very much. sincerely, Tom L Gledhill

Answer
Tom,

This is what's known as a Masonic Penny.

Somebody took a normal penny, stamped the mason's symbol into it, plated it (likely in silver), then punched the hole in it do it could be worn on a necklace.

To be honest, the quality of this one is poor -- value maybe a dollar.

Masonic pennies are popular and widespread for over a century.  Go on eBay and do a search -- you'll find hundreds for sale at any time -- hell I could sell you 4 or 5 !
