Question
I have a 1953 five shilling piece in plastic container, edge of coin inscripted " I will bear unto you faith and truth"
Has it any value?

Answer
Hi John, There were 6 million of the regular copper-nickel circulation issues that year. Collector value may be worth about $7.50 with light wear to $15 if uncirculated (no wear).
Proof versions, 40,000, may be worth about $50. Proof coins have mirror fields that allows reflecting newsprint to be read at least 6 inches away.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
