Question

1977 Zaire note
I have a couple of uncirculated 1977 one Zaire banknotes with a Government Authority stamp on them. Has this any significance, or does it detract from the value. Can send you a scan if you require for clarity, thanks and regards,
Rob Barbour

Answer
Hi Rob, a normal note collector value may be worth about .50 with heavy wear to around $2 with moderate wear to maybe $10 with no wear (uncirculated). It appears handstamps were applied in the 1980's on the older 1, 5, 10 Zaire notes at bank branches for reissue but the note values are about the same.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
