Coin and Paper Money Collecting/2006 Stamped Nickel

Question
I noticed today a 2006 nickel with "No More Lies" stamped in a small circle next to Jefferson's face.  On the reverse (exactly matching up like the nickel was pressed between some sort of stamping device) is another circle with the words "No More War".

I am curious about whether this is a one off thing or if there is some sort of larger effort out there doing this in mass to coins.  Comparing this coin to my other nickels this is the only one that I have this way.  Thanks.

Answer
Anneli,

This is a one off thing.  Somebody disgruntled with the government got some kind of metal punch and stamped this into your coin.  There's no way to tell how many coins have had this done to it -- it's the first time I've heard of it -- but with the widening disapproval of the things our current government is doing, I wouldn't be surprised to see this kind of thing alot more often.

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
