Question
Hi there,

I have a gold Dutch coin with the words Komgin wilheimina god zijmetons 1925 10 Gilders on it.
I am wanting more info on this and a estimate of what it may be worth.
Any info you could hand one would be great.
Regards
Melody

Answer
Hi Melody,
This 22 karat gold 10 guilders is a fairly common coin, with 2 million made. In perfect condition with luster they have some collector premium, but with any signs of use they are only worth their gold bullion value. Since this coin contains just under 1/5 of an ounce of pure gold content, the current bullion value is right around USD $230 or AUD $255-$260. A perfect example will be worth anywhere from $250 to $300 (USD), depending on whether it is officially graded by a reputable certification company or sold "as is".
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
