Question
I have an 1883 Portuguese coin, "XX REIS", that is completely readable on both sides. What might the current value of this coin be? Thanks in advance!
Hi Doug, There were about 17 million of these bronze Portuguese 20 reis coins minted that year featuring King Luiz I (1861-89). Collector value may be worth about .25 with heavy wear to around $2 with moderate wear to maybe $8 with light wear.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
