Question
i have a silver coin with a lion with a crown on and a sword in his paws standing up and facing to the right.  there is a big crown ubove his head on the rim and it says concordia res parve crescunt and the date says 17on the left side and 69 on the right side.  do you know anything regarding as I would like to make a jewelery piece from this and would not like to damage it if it was worth anything.

Answer
Hi Salome, it may be a Dutch East Indies 1 Ducaton (60 Stuivers). If genuine it should weigh 31.82 to 32.78 grams and would contain .9412 to .9917 of an ounce of silver. Does the knight on the horse face left or right? What is the writing on the other side? What is the design in the crowned shield below the horse?
