Question

coins
I have a bag of coins passed down to me by my grandfather and I am trying to figure out what some of them are and how I should properly care of them. There are about 5 coins with the same markings as a 1921 Morgan Silver dollar, but they have no year and say .000 fine silver with a dollar sign on the back of one and .999 one troy oz with the eagles on 2 others. The last coin has lady liberty sitting down with a flag  on the front and a wreath on the back (also marked silver).

Answer
Felicia,

All those marked .999 fine silver or one troy ounce are just privately minted silver rounds -- they are not technically coins.  Their value will be only for the ounce of silver they contain -- currently about $17.50 each.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
