Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Two interesting coins

Question
Hello,
We found a vintage plastic key chain with a "silver" 1944 wheat penny encased in plastic celebrating 25 years-Florida National Bank of Orlando.
Also, we have a half dime back/half penny back coin.  It's the size of a dime but it seems thinner lighter in weight.

Answer
Joanna,

The 1944 cent has to be silver plated -- value the key chain at about a dollar.

The dime/penny coin is called a magician's coin -- manufactured by altering two coins and gluing the pieces back together.  These are mass-produced nowadays -- value at a couple dollars.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
