Question
we have a $5 coin that has to the heroes of pearl harbor five dollars 1941* 1991 m on one side & republic of the marshall islands 1991 jepilpilin ke ejukaan $5 seal on the other side. we would like to know if this is an actual coin of value or a novelty coin. thank you for your time. ronald & kathryn

Answer
R & K

It's a novelty coin privately minted with the authority of the Marshall Islands.  It says it has a value of $5, but you cannot cash it anywhere -- not even in the Marshall Islands.  And I don't belive the $5 ones have any silver in them -- only the $50 ones do.

So it's value is minimal -- perhaps a dollar, if you can find an interested buyer.

Wish I had better news for you,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
