Answer

Hi Brian,
You have a gold 10 gulden coin from The Netherlands. It is made of 22 karat purity gold and contains just under 1/5th of an ounce of pure gold weight. For reference, a genuine coin should weigh right around 6.7 grams, and can be a couple tenths of a gram lighter if it has wear on the surface. There are also counterfeits out there which would be significantly lighter, by half a gram or more.
These are popular coins with collectors, but I cannot give you an exact value without seeing a picture of the coin.
A decent, used coin starts at $300-$350, while one in mint condition can sell for $1,500 or more.
There is also a rare variety for this date, where the 2 in the date will be struck over a 1. You can see this if you look at the date under 10x magnification. This variety is worth more than twice what the regular 1832 is worth.
I hope this gives you enough info to know the value of your coin. Please feel free to post a follow-up question with a clear picture of the portrait side of the coin and I can give you an exact grade and value on it.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
