Question
how would they know we would need money stamped Hawaii in 1934 when we got bomb in 1942.

Rick,

That Series number you see is not the same as dates on a coin.  While the date on a coin reflects the year it was minted, series dates on paper money can be used for many years.  So when the Hawaii notes were issued during WWII, they were just a continuation of the 1934 & 1935 series notes already in production, with some changes.  Series' usually only change when the people signing them change.
