Question
hi :) The coin I found is from 1950 and the face side it has GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX FIDEI DEF. written and on the other side it has of course the date of the coin and the currency (six pence) but also it has a picture of a kangaroo and emu with the australian shield underneath that, on a banner of some sort it has "advance Australia" just visible on it. i havet been able to find any info in this coin and I was wondering if it was worth anything. I have found pictures of the front of the coin but not the back. your help would be appreciated :) thankyou

Answer
Hi Jaymie, There were 10.3 million of these Australian 6 pence coins minted in Melbourne that year featuring King George VI (1936-52). It contains .0453 of an ounce of silver. Collector value may be worth about $1 with heavy wear to around $1.50 with moderate wear to maybe $3 with light wear.

You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
