Question
Can you please tell me the market (fair) value of a 5 Kopeck Copper Coin of Catherine II from Russia dated of 1781 and EM Mintmark.
If there is any way I can send you a pdf image of the coin would be great.

Answer
Hi Rui,
The market for early Russian coins is excellent right now. In fact, the price guides are stiull showing prices from before the market went up. A market, rather than catalog, value would be anywhere from $5 to well over $100 depending on the condition. You can e-mail me pictures of the coin at BetweenEarthnSky@yahoo.com
After I look at the pictures I will reply to the second question with an accurate grade and value for your coin.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
