Question
I work at a fast food place and came across a coin in the roll of dimes. I just googled the writtings but I would like further detail on the coin. Bronze. On the front there is fine print writting I can't make out and a picture of a lady with a wrap on here head, facing the the left. On the back it reads ; EAAHNIKH AHMOKPATIA. The year is 1990. It has a 1 on the back of it, in between 19 and 90. There is also a picture of a boat on the back with writting underneath of it; APAXMH. If you could please fill me in on my findings, that would be great!

Answer
Hello Tamra, yes sounds like you do have a greek coin, 1 drachma was worth about 1/2 cent.  It was replaced by the euro and is no longer in circulation.  I'm not sure but I think this might have been the equivalent of 100 drachma so it would be about 50 cents, as I can't imagine a 1 drachma piece of this size (or even any size).  Go to www.ebay.com and do a search for Greek or Greece drachma and maybe add coin or maybe not and you'll certainly see some for sale.  Jim Lawncizak
