ITALIANA REVBBLICA 1989 L.500

ITALIANA REVBBLICA 1998 L.1000

ITALIANA REVBBLICA 1992 L.100

Answer
Kristin sounds like you have some fairly recent Italian coins ranging from 100 Lira to 1000 lira.  Back in the 1990s, the lira was trading in the range of 2000 per dollar (maybe just a bit less) so your 500 is the equivalent of a quarter etc.  The lira was phased out for the euro in 1999 so is no longer traded.  I believe though am not sure that the only way to convert it to other currency is in Italy where they will still exchange old lira for euro.  Jim Lawniczak
