Question
My brother found this coin while burring a horse in virginia. I have looked online for a similar coin but none are stamped NEWARK across the back like this one . Maybe you could help. Thank you.

Answer
I have never handles one of these but I am guessing that it was counterstamped by a merchant, possibly named Newark as a promotional advertising item.
This was common in the mid to late 1800's.
Some are collectible.  Find a dealer who specializes in "Hard Times Tokens" and trade tokens.  They can usually put a value on something like this.
