Coin and Paper Money Collecting/nederlandsch indie 1942

Question
Hi, I just found a nederlandsch indie 1942 bronze? 1G coin that looks like it has been made into a button. It has a bar expertly attached across the central hole and the coin has been slightly curved. The coin itself is in excellent condition. Do you know of this being done before and if so why. I am from Australia and found the coin in a jar of buttons.
Thanks
Chris

Answer
Hi Chris, the Netherlands East Indies bronze 1942 cents weren't uncommon. If a coin has been damaged by becoming part of the jewelry or cannot be separated from the jewelry without damage then its value lies in the piece of jewelry and not as a coin.
