Question
Hi,
There is no discernible date on this coin. On the back there is a bird in flight, with wings that go up , united states of America the words on top, at the bottom, quarter dollar, on the flip side there is liberty  on the front top and then it looks like a man( it could be a woman standing up with flowing cape)between a wall on the right and a wall on the left that's waist high. What is the value or year of this coin?

Answer
Suzy,

You have what's known as a Standing Liberty Quarter.  These were minted from 1916 to 1930.

If yours does not have any stars below the eagle, then it's a Type 1 -- most likely a 1917 -- it could possibly be a 1916, but it's hard to tell without seeing the date.

If it does have 3 stars below the eagle, then it's a Type 2 -- it could be any year from 1917 to 1930.

Without the date, its value will basically only be for the silver it contains -- currently about $3.00

More info about these quarters can be found at the following websites :

I hope this helps,

I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
