QuestionQUESTION: hello i have a one dollar bill and a two dollar canadian bill dated from 1954.i was wondering what the value of said bill would be. they are both in prefect condition with no creases. they have never been folded and are stain free.does this give it a higher value because it would be a collectors item?
ANSWER: Hi Sarah, Collector value of a note depends on date, signatures and condition, including amount of wear, any folds, tears or stains as well as collector demand.
The early 1954 issues have a 'devil's face' in the hair by the queen's ear. These are worth a bit more than the corrected version with the same date depending on signature, amount of wear and collector demand. Later issues had the hair redesigned with no face.
Let me know which you have and the signature names and I can give you an estimate of their value.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.

QUESTION: the one dollar bill has R.W Lawson deputy governor and a im completely guessing G.L(maybe).Bavey? governor. the two dollar bills has J.R Beattie deputy governor and guessing L.Rasninsky?>>i also found a five dollar bill also from 1954 with the signatures G.L. bavey and L.Rasninsky..both the names i cant seem to read.i dont believe i see the devil behind her ear in any of the three bills
AnswerHi Sarah, the Lawson-Bouey $1 note was issued 1973-4 and collector value may be worth about $1.25 with heavy wear to around $2 with moderate wear to maybe $9 with no wear.
The 1961-72 $2 collector value may be worth about $2.25, $3, $10 in the same conditions as listed above.
The 1972 $5 collector value may be worth about $6, $9, $30 in the same conditions as listed above depending on amount of wear and collector demand.
