just found a 1964 quarter in excellent condition has no stamp in the back like d or any other letter whats the story on these things? worth anything

1964 was the last year they minted quarters out of silver -- also the year they made more silver quarters than any other.  So what you have is the equivalent of a 90% silver bullion piece.

Having no mint letter just means that it came from the main mint in Philadelphia -- "P" mintmarks were not added to coins until 1980.

At current silver prices, it's worth about $3.00
