Question
Hi Dimitri, a follow up question from your answer to Katie about the  5 drachmai from Greece.
Is it normal for the coin to be printed/pressed with 1 side upside down?
If the bird in flames is up right as u look at it, and holding it top and botton and spin it round the 'back' woth the 5 apaxmai is upside down.

Answer
Hi Chris,
This is normal for this coin. Some coins have "medallic" alignment, where both sides are in the same direction, as they would be on a medal. Many coins have "coin alignment", where the two sides are in opposite direction.
Some countries have historically preferred one over the other, while others have used both with various types of coins they issued.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
