Question

Panama 1966
Hi, I'm having trouble with this Panama coin. Located it, but there's apparently four different varieties? Could you tell me which one mine is???

They also mention flan thickness. I just noticed it, but that's sort of a part of the rim? I have another year for the same coin, and this one is a lot thinner than the other so I'm assuming this is correct.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Answer
Hi Kathrin,
There are actually only two varieties for this date. The other two are for a proof coin, which is a special strike that has mirror-like fields and frosted raised features. This is a regular strike, and appears to be the slightly better type 2 - Us struck with thin flan and elongated dashes on either side of "DE" in Rebulica de Panama. The London struck thick flan variety has shorter diamonds, instead of dashes, on either side of "DE".
Thanks for the question! =)
