Question
i have a 25 centimes luxemburg coin dated 1960.  when held and reversed from left to right the reverse is also upright.  where can i sell this coin? it is in  near mint condition.  thank you for any aid in selling....sb

Answer
Hi Sherry,
The alignment you describe is normal for this coin. This is called "medallic alignment", where both sides are facing in the same direction. Most of us are used to coins that have "coin alignment", where the two sides are in opposite directions.
The value for this coin would be around a dollar, perhaps $2 in mint condition. The book values are even lower than that, actually. This coin is common because there were millions of them made.
If you do choose to sell this, or any other coins, your best bet is eBay. It convenient, secure and there are tons of coin buyers on there. Just make sure to have clear and close-up pictures of both sides.
Thanks for the question =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
