Question

R B K token
Hi i have this token and know nothing about it the back says rbp 342 which i think stands for royal black percepatory other than that i dont know the value or age of the token I have asked a few local coin dealers and they know nothing about it I am sending a picture of the front if you can help me figure out more about it i would really appreciate it i have seen other pictures of different ones online but never actually seen another one thanks for your time Jake

Answer

Hi Jake,
This society is actually from Toronto, and is somewhat similar to the Freemasons. They were founded in 1912 and this medallion would have been made within a couple years of that, so 1912-1915 is a safe age for your token.
Your piece is actually in really nice condition. The most recent example of one that sold was in significantly worse shape and did $25 (see attached picture). Yours would be worth about double that, around $50.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
