Question
Hi there, I have a 1976 penny that has a map and initials AK inside the map. Its right above the 1976 on the front of penny. Everything else looks the same as the rest of them though. Is that rare and if it is do know a price range. Also, I have a 1965 dime that doesn't have a class letter on it. Are any of these worth anything? Thanks much Dave.

Answer
Hi David,
The penny was stamped after it left the mint, probably to be used as a souvenier somewhere in Alaska (AK).  It has no value over 1 cent.

As for the dime, when there is no mintmark, the coin was struck in Philadelphia.  They didn't start adding the Philadelphia (P) mintmark until years later.
