Question
Just received as hesitance how much should I insure for. Do not plan on selling

Answer
Hi K.C.,
If you would like an exact value, I would need to see a clear picture of the coin. You can attach one picture per follow-up question on this site.
For now I can only give you a range of values in various conditions.
This coin was made at La Rochelle and there were 419,000 made that year. The values start at around $30 for a decent, but pretty used coin and go up to $300+ in mint condition. With just a little wear on the high points it will still be worth $75 to $100.
Looking forward to your follow-up with a picture of the coin.
Thanks! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
