Question
I was going thru some of my fathers old coins after his passing last July and came across a roll of war time steel pennys.Upon opening the roll I saw 1 lone copper penny. It was dated 1943 with an S marking.I got on line and began to read about it. If what I read is true, then I probably need to get it authicated. This is not my area of expertise .Any suggestions?    Thanks    Steve

Answer
Hi Steve,
First off, see if it sticks to a magnet.  If it does, it is copper plated.  If it doesn't, that's good.
Then look at the date again.  Make sure that it isn't a 1948 that someone altered.  Compare the "3"'s on the "copper coin" with a steel coin.
If you still believe that it is genuine, feel free to contact me and I will advise you the best way to have it authenticated.  You can contact me through our website  www.AllCoins.US
