Coin and Paper Money Collecting/King George III coin

Question

King George III coin
I have a 1773  Georgius III REX coin  and on opposite side is a crest and it says Nia on left and Virgi on the right.  Do you have any history and approximate value of this coin?

Answer
Hi Phil,Phil,
Unfortunately the coin pictured appears to be a modern cast copy. The design is of an American colonial halfpenny from Virginia. A genuine coin in this condition would be worth at least a couple of hundred dollars, but the surface and details on this coin are not correct.
Thanks for the question!

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
