Question
I found a 1905 silver coin on the front it says edward v11 king and emporer on the back hong kong one cent with what seems like a tiny hole at the very top, just wanted some information about it cant find it anywhere on the internet.

Answer

Hi Matt,
This is indeed a bronze large cent from Hong Kong, while under British rule. The coins were struck at the Heaton mint in Birmingham, England. Coins of this type were made from the 1860's up to the 1920's. They are fairly common in used condition and one with a hole punched through it would be worth only a dollar or so.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
