Question
I also have a coin with the name Leopold 11(roman numeral) Koning on the left front side near the rim with Der Belgen on the right front side near the rim and a portrait of a bearded man also on the face. On the back there is a coat of arms and an inscription of EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT at the top and mine has a date 1887. Can you give me any information about this coin and what it might be worth. Looks to be in wonderful shape. I don't know the coin lingo.Pic included Thanks Debbie

Hi Debbie,
This is a Belgian silver 1 franc coin, with Dutch legends. They were also made with French legends (Des Belges instead of Der Belgen). The unfortunate thing is that these coins are relatively common in circulated condition. This coin appears to have some wear. If the details in the hair and beard on the other side is mostly worn flat, the coin will only be worth $5 or so. If they are sharp with just slight signs of flattening, the value jumps tenfold. If the coin had no wear at all, it would be worth $150+.
