Question
balance scales on back of coin
balance scales on back
Greetings!

I came across a silver coin that has lady Liberty on one side and the reverse is the balance scale.  It is also undated.  I've been searching all over the internet and can not find anything that resembles it.  Do you know what it is and when it was minted?

Thank you, KJ

Answer
Kai,

That balance scale design is very common among silver art rounds.  The APM moniker on it stands for American Precious Metals, a company that specializes in smelting and processing precious metals.  They made alot of these silver rounds with varying designs on the other side.

I can't tell you the date yours was made, but it's not rare.  Value will be only for the ounce of silver it contains.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
