Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1976 Eisenhower dollar

Question
I by no means am a coin collector. My father was a casual collecter. After he passed I we through his collection and came across his silver dollars. Most of them are the same. The one felt very different though. Upon closer inspection you could see it was very shiny. The looking at it closer you can see on the reverse of the 1976 dollar that liberty bell is missing the crack and no words are printed on the bell. On the front, and Eisenhower hair is missing. Could this coin, and 1976 Eisenhower silver dollar be valuable? Any input would be appreciated. I will separately email you pictures of the coin.

Thanks,

Sean

Answer
Sean,

Thank you for the pictures.

It appears to me that the coin is just really worn, like it had been somebody's pocket piece for several years, being constantly rubbed and worn down.  This is pretty unusual for an Ike dollar, because they rarely circulated, so you almost never see one that has been worn down.

As such it has no added collector value.

I hope this helps,

Dan

I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
