Question
I found a 1788 Copper Connecticut
at coin should i clean it also how do i find out how much it is worth.

Thanks
jack

Answer
Jack,

Definitely do not clean it.  Not knowing how, you will only make it worth less if you try to clean it with anything stronger than warm water with a little liquid dish soap to remove surface dirt.

Without spending any money, you can try to find a matching item on eBay.com and see what it sells for.

Or for under $15 you can get a copy of the "2012 Guide Book of United States Coins" here :

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0794833497/theworkimansrare

This book will show you which variety you have and lists values for it.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
