Question
QUESTION: i have a 1979 susan b anthony dollar and below the neck doesnt have a p or d or s it actually has FG and i was curious bout what happened if it was a misprint or if it has any value than the standard markings.

ANSWER: Lyndel,

Normally the mintmark is to the left of the head, as in the picture here :

The FG you see below the neck is the designor's initials (Frank Gasparro), and appears on every SBA dollar.

If you're missing the mintmark from the left side, this is usually caused by the existance of a foreign substance (like machine grease) in the press, preventing the complete striking of the coin.  A relatively common error with little collector interest, it's worth no more than a couple dollars.

I hope this helps,

Dan

QUESTION: i have another question i have a 1976 2 dollar bill that is in excellent condition bout how much would it be worth?

Answer
The Series date on currency does not change every year like the date on coins.  The BEP continued to use the 1976 Series date on $2 bills for 20 years, until it was replaced in 1995.  So they made lots & lots & lots of these 1976 dated notes.  Being very common like this, even the nicest gem crisp notes are only worth a few dollars.  If yours shows any trace of circulation whatsoever, it will have no collector value -- go ahead and spend it.

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
