Question
Dear Sir, My Question is very Simple.
In 1964,When in Production, did the US MINT Engrave (Hit) the Coin
with a BIG Letter 'B' for BAD due to Errors? This BIG (B) being
Engraved on the entire Jacket of Linclon and reaching part of the
NECK.
If they did,do that, how many of these coins have accidentally
entered ciculation? Just a estimate? Appreciate your advise
and Help.God Bless

Beck,

Answer
Beck,

That's an interesting theory, but unfortunately did not happen.  If you have a coin with a big B (or any other letter, number, or symbol) stamped INTO it, then this was something that was done after the coin left the mint, usually by somebody with a metal punch and too much time on their hands.

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
