Question
Hi my wife has just found a 1 sided 2pence piece it has only been pressed with the queens head on one side and nothing on the other,it is completely blank.Someone tells me an error of this magnitude is Very rare and makes the coin quite valuable could you give me an idea what you think it may be worth? please and if indeed this type of error is rare?

Thanks Wayne

Answer
Hi Wayne:

Picked this question up from the pool. It could be an error or an altered coin. If you could re-ask the question and attach a photo or provide added data as to the weight and thickness compared to a regular UK 2P coin struck on both sides, I can try to pinpoint what you may have.

Possible real errors would be caused from a split blank, or being struck by a capped die, or two blanks struck at same time. If real, it could be worth hundreds for dollars. As an altered coin, it has no added value.

Good Luck in your collecting.
