Question
I Have a Carol IV D.C.  This is what it says on the front of the coin-  His Pet IND R 1792 coin and on the back it says,  IN UTRO FELIX   AUSPICE DECO it reads from left to right. Want to see if it is worth something and how much. It's a gold coin..

Answer
Hi Bridget,
Coins of this type were made in several denominations and in several countries with the same design. I would need to know the denomination and mint marks. They are both on the "USPICE DEO" side. The denomination is a number 1,2, 4 or 8 to the left of the shield with a letter S to the right of the shield. The mint marks are at the very bottom below the shield.
This will at least allow me to determine if yours is one of the more common or rarer ones. I would still need to see a clear picture of the side with CAROL IV to determine condition and thus value. You can attach a picture to a follow-up question on this site.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
